Spectacular display and variety of street art and graffiti
Florentine is a neighborhood that never stops giving. On every street corner you will find another graffiti work of art that is proudly displayed on one of the walls. Crazy combination of illogical connections between different techniques and the talents of different street artists.
For me, a tour of the neighborhood parallels a visit to ten museums of contemporary art.
Florentine is located in south Tel Aviv and is named after Shlomo Florentin. The neighborhood is located between Aliya Street in the east, Elifelet in the west, Jaffa Road in the north and Shlomo Road (Salme) in the south.
Florentine neighborhood is considered the "SOHO" of Tel Aviv and the number of young people living in it is relatively larger than the number of young people in any other neighborhood in Tel Aviv. The neighborhood has undergone an accelerated urban renewal in the last two decades, so you can find in it both clusters of ancient and neglected houses as well as new buildings in a modern-contemporary architecture. The neighborhood has a young vibe, an alternative atmosphere and the businesses in the neighborhood consist mainly of upholsterers, carpenters, home design, jewelry designers, fashion designers, veterinarians and of course many bars, restaurants and cafes.
In this post I chose a relatively small collection of the most prominent and interesting graffiti works that appear throughout the neighborhood. A walking tour of Florence will expose you to thousands of graffiti and street art of all types and species.
